The brutal murder of Sri Vellaiyappan outraged Hindus
in the entire state. Then the mortal remains of Sri Vellaiyappan was
placed in a public spot in Vellore 5000 people led by Uttar Tamilnadu
Pranth Pracharak Bakthavatsalam, Prant Sah Karyawah Sri Sambamurthy, Sri
Pon.Radhakrishnan, State offered shradanjali and bade a tearful
farewell as the body was taken to Vellaiyappan’s native sankarankovil
about 400 kilometres away. Throughout the entire route, enraged and
sorrowful Hindus gathered at every town and village and paid their
homage to their beloved leader Vellaiyappan. In Sankarankovil itself
thousands of Hindus had gathered. They offered their last salute to
Vellaiyappan and the cremation was held there today (July 3). In a way,
tension continued to prevail across Tamilnadu in an unprecedented way
following the murder of a Hindu activist.
